Owners James and Shannon Hiromasa have been teaching Krav Maga in Colorado for over 25 years. The first to bring Krav Maga to Colorado back in 1997, and among the 1st in the Nation outside of the original National Training Center in Los Angeles.

Over the years they’ve trained THOUSANDS of first responders in Colorado and accross the USA. James is an active Subject Matter Expert for the State of Colorado for Law Enforcement Training, and Shannon trains elected officials on safety and awareness.

James, Shannon and their staff were the FIRST Krav Maga Instructors with certifications from Wingate, Israel (the government governing body of Krav Maga in Israel, it’s birthplace), and the first and among the ONLY certified Senior Instructors from Wingate in Colorado (only a handful in the USA), PLUS the only couple tasked with training and certifying Krav Maga Instructors for 3 different worldwide organizations over the years.

James is the two-time #1 Best Selling Author of the books “How to be a Super Hero” and “The Modern Gunfighter” both on Amazon. He holds 3rd Dan Black Belt Ranks with several Krav Maga organizations as well as among the first to receive the “Krav Maga Senior Instructor” certification from Wingate in Israel. Wingate Institute is the Israeli National Center for sports and athletics and houses the Israeli school for Coaches. Additional certifications include De-escalation Instructor Certification from the Force Science Institute, and USCCA Firearms Instructor. James was in the very first group of instructors to get licensed to teach Krav Maga outside of the National Training Center in LA back in 1997. He earned his Krav Maga Instructors Black Belt in 2003 as only the second to do so in the United States outside of LA and the first ever in Colorado. James is a fully certified Force Training Master Instructor who has taught courses in Fort Hood for the United States Army and is currently teaching Law Enforcement Courses throughout the United States and works as a contract Trainer for the Boulder County Sheriff’s Department. James was also on the Krav Maga Worldwide Advisory Board and one of only a handful of Instructors that hold "Train the Trainer" status and who is qualified to train and certify instructors in the highest levels of Krav Maga and has personally certified hundreds of Krav Maga Instructors worldwide. James' background in Martial Arts began at age 9 in Judo, then progressed through the years with Karate, taekwondo, hapkido, and of course now Krav Maga. James now travels the US lecturing on topics such as situational awareness, de-escalation, and understanding body language for de-escalation and pre-attack indicators.
Mike began training at Colorado Krav Maga in 2005. Over the past 10 years he has advanced to a Level 6 Krav Maga Black Belt Instructor; one of 6 in the state of Colorado. He teaches regularly at both the Broomfield and Denver facilities. Mike also travels around the state and country teaching reality based Krav Maga seminars, training law enforcement through Tactical Krav Maga, as well as “train the trainer” certifications. Through Tactical Krav Maga Mike also leads the concealed handgun and close quarter combat classes. When not at Colorado Krav Maga Mike is an 23 year veteran at a municipal police department. As Division Cheif there he coordinates both the firearms and defensive tactics programs, teaches use of force, and police tactics. He is regularly called upon by Colorado law enforcement agencies for his expertise in Krav Maga self defense and police defensive tactics. If there is ever any time remaining you’ll find Mike wakeboarding, snowboarding, riding ATVs, and training.
Naomi joined Colorado Krav Maga in 2015 and never looked back. She is the program director of the Lakewood location, kids program manager, certified Krav Maga instructor, and fitness instructor. She spent 6 months in 2017-18 living and training in Tel Aviv, Israel in Krav Maga, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Krav Maga is her true passion, but she also has a master’s degree in Film Studies from the University of Colorado Boulder. If she isn’t training she is probably watching a movie or singing and dancing around the house. Her 2 dogs, Baldur and Vali, are certified Krav Dogs and always ready to help you train and get better.
Lyle is one of our high Krav Maga and Fitness Instructors. Experienced/Expert in Parkour and FreeRunning. Previous background experience in capoeira and Martial Arts Weaponry.
"After my first fitness class, I knew I not only wanted this to be a part of my life forever, but I wanted to share this experience with everyone I knew" Michelle completed her CrossKick certification in October of 2013 and currently teaches fitness classes at the Littleton location. Shes completed several 1/2 marathons as well as completed the 198 mile Hood to Coast relay run last summer and along with her daughter runs 5k's together all the time.

Deniece began training at Colorado Krav Maga in 2011. She says “Krav Maga is my safe space.” She is currently certified as an adult and kids instructor and teaches at the Denver location.
Shannon is a certified Krav Maga Instructor and in fact one of the highest ranked female instructors in the United States. Shannon is also the co-founder, and sole Creator, Developer, and Instructor Certifier for CrossKick, a new fitness and conditioning Program adopted in 100's of Martial Arts schools Nationwide. Most recently, Shannon is developing the Get-Fit-Done program and is a #1 Best Selling Author of the book Get Fit Done on Amazon. Being an expert in the field of Fitness and Conditioning, Shannon was contracted to develop the PMA Fitness program for United Professionals, a chain of thousands of martial art schools, and currently certifies other instructors from around the nation. She is often called upon to consult for national media on the subject, and colaborated on an article for Womens Health Magazine. She began her training in Krav Maga in 1997 and went through the instructor certification process in 1999. To top it off, Shannon is a Certified CrossFit Trainer registered with the CrossFit organization. Shannon also holds TWO Krav Maga certifications from Wingate in Israel. Wingate Institute is the Israeli National Center for sports and athletics and houses the Israeli school for Coaches. Shannon has a degree in Sociology/Psychology with departmental honors from the University of Colorado at Denver. Her martial arts background consists of 20 years of training with Black Belts in Goju-Ryu, Tae Kwon Do, and Premier Martial Arts as well as extensive training in Pai Lum Kung Fu. Her fitness background includes Certified Fitness Trainer, yoga instructor, certified Krav Maga Conditioning and Premier Martial Arts Conditioning Instructor. Shannon teaches a variety of programs at both locations, and does school talks, summer camps, and Kids Safe seminars around Colorado.
Nate has been trianing in Krav Maga since 2009 and is now a certified Krav Maga Instructor and the Program Director for the Broomfield Training Center. Nate is also certified as a Krav Maga instructor by Wingate of Israel.
After briefly training Muay Thai in Thailand, Gina wanted to continue with something in the US that integrated fitness and practical self defense techniques. Krav Maga turned out to be the perfect fit! She's been training with Colorado Krav Maga for several years now and is a Krav Maga kids' instructor in Denver.
Chrystal is a wife and mother of 2 children, Tyler 8 and David 4. She works full time as a project manager, and knows what juggling it takes to get in a workout, so she really appreciates seeing your faces in her class. She says "I love teaching classes, especially high cardio. I enjoy running, obstacle courses and helping others realize what they are capable of". Chrystal is a certified CrossKick Instructor currently teaching in Littleton.
Mike has been actively engaged in the security industry and a Firearms Instructor for over 20 years including work with at risk individuals, executive protection and industry consulting. He has extensive training and practical application in the use of firearms for defensive and offensive purposes. Mike is also an active scuba diver and instructor.
AAron began training at the Denver location in 2009. He was immediately hooked after his first class. In 2014 he completed his first phase certification. He teaches at all of COKM's training centers and is the Program Director of the Littleton Location.
Zach has been trainig at Colorado Krav Maga for years, being introduced to it by his girlfriend. Zach first got hired on as an assistant Program Director, then took over the lead position full time! Zach is a certified Krav Maga and certified Fitness and CrossFit instructor. Zach is also certified as a Krav Maga instructor by Wingate of Israel.
Fergus began his Krav Maga journey in 2015. He trained at Americas Best Defense in Massachusetts and at the Institute of Krav Maga Cork in his native Ireland before moving west and joining COKM. He has been a kids instructor since 2018 and completed his first phase adults instructor certification in 2021. His preference is for functional fitness and in his spare time is usually found in the mountains, falling off his mountain bike or skis, and chasing his merle labradoodle, Stanley, through the woods.
Andrew's Krav Maga journey started in 2017 when he joined Colorado Krav Maga shortly after moving to Denver. He teaches the kids classes at our Denver location and earned his adult instructor certification in 2022. Outside of training, he can be found reading a fantasy or science fiction novel, or catching the latest Marvel flick.
COKM and Tactical Krav Maga Firearms Instructor and Staff Medic. Firefighter / Paramedic (retired), Tactical SWAT Medic (retired). Now Emergency Medical educator for Paramedics, EMT’s, Law Enforcement and the public. Greg started Krav Maga training while on the SWAT team, and in 2019 joined up with Colorado Krav Maga.
Marc and his family started training at Colorado Krav Maga in 2010 at the suggestion of a friend, Jon, who was also an Instructor at COKM. A certified CrossFit and Kettlebell Instructor, he bagan teaching Cage Fitness and CrossFit classes in 2011 and teaches at both locations.
Annie started training with Colorado Krav Maga in 2010 and has been in love with it ever since. She is a Krav Maga Alliance certified instructor, Tactical Krav Maga Armed Civilian Training instructor, and Crosskick Cage Fitness trainer. She holds a Bachelor of Fine arts from the University of Colorado Denver and when she isn’t in the Krav school, she is creating in her art studio at home. A Colorado native, she enjoys her free time out in the mountains with her husband, Zach, and their dogs.
Billy began in Krav Maga in early 2023, bringing twenty-five years' experience as a performer in physical theatre and circus performance (plus a background in Yang Style long for Tai Chi) to his practice. He is the creator of the Constitutional Arts Project, which has been presented at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, and contributed aspects to the Broadway Advocacy Coalition’s (BAC) J-Term, leading to BAC’s 2021 Tony Award. Billy has also performed with The Turkmen State Circus as a United States Cultural Ambassador. He enjoys translating a lifetime of dynamic movement training into his work in self defense with Colorado Krav Maga.

Oren comes from Israel, where he served in the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) on the Lebanon border and in Recon for several years. Oren has been training with Colorado Krav Maga since 2009 and is a certified Krav Maga instructor by the Krav Maga Alliance.
Ryan Becwar began training in Krav Maga in 2012 and worked tirelessly to continue improving his skills and knowledge over the years resulting in him earning his black belt in December of 2021. Throughout his training, Ryan developed a deep appreciation for the practicality and effectiveness of Krav Maga in real-life situations. As a result, Ryan dedicated himself to obtaining his instructor certification so he could begin empowering others to learn and develop the skills they need to protect and defend themselves and their families. Ryan believes that Krav Maga is not just a powerful tool for self-defense, but a way of life that can help individuals become stronger, more confident, and more disciplined. With his passion, dedication, and expertise, Ryan is a role model for anyone looking to improve themselves both physically and mentally.
