WELCOME TO THE KRAV MAGA KIDS COMMUNITY!

HERE’S WHAT TO EXPECT FOR YOUR CHILD’S FIRST CLASS
and other useful information

5 star Krav Maga reviewI’ve been coming here for about 2 and a half years. Great instructors and atmosphere! The kids classes are also top notch. 4 of my kids have taken classes with Naomi and have learned so much and adore her!

BEFORE THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT
  • WE’LL CONTACT YOU.  The truth is, we’re probably more excited to meet you and your kid(s) more than you know!  We love meeting new action takers and seeing what kind of awesome family is joining our community.  Bonus for us, we get to watch your kid(s) grow and crush their goals along the way!  We’ll be contacting you via phone, text, and email before your appointment just to check in and make sure you’re all set.
  • JOIN OUR PRIVATE COMMUNITY GROUP ON FACEBOOK.  You have a fantastic resource at your fingertips in our PRIVATE Facebook group.  Lessons, fun stuff, announcements, videos, all kinds of content by us, your instructors, and mostly by other members of the community!  You can request to join right away here; https://www.facebook.com/groups/COKMmembers
  • GATHER YOUR GEAR. Really, all your kid will need to start in their first class is comfortable workout clothes, and we recommend a water bottle.  Assuming you bought our 2 week trial, then their FREE uniform will be waiting for them when you come in!
  • GET DIRECTIONS. Use google maps to estimate your drive time to our locations.  You can start here;https://www.coloradokravmaga.com/locations/
THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT
  • REMINDER.  We’ll be reaching out to you to make sure you have the directions and that you’re all set for your appointment that day
  • DON’T FORGET THEIR CLOTHES AND GEAR.  We get so set in our daily routines sometimes we leave the house for work or our daily to do’s and forget to throw our gym bag in!
  • GIVE YOURSELF TIME TO GET THERE.  We don’t want you to feel rushed so give yourself plenty of time to get to the training center.
  • DON’T FILL YOUR KIDS UP ON FOOD IMMEDIATELY BEFORE CLASS.  However, some parents like to give their kid(s) a little snack before class so they aren’t too hungry!
ON ARRIVAL
  • ARRIVE 10 MINUTES BEFORE CLASS.  If it’s their first class, arrive 10-15 minutes early so you can meet us and get a quick tour of the facility. We will show your kids a few things they need to know to be ready for class!  If you want to get a head start with your kid, watch the videos below!
  • FILL OUT YOUR PAPERWORK.  You’ll need to complete a waiver for your kid(s) to participate, it’ll just take a few minutes to fill out completely.
  • ASK QUESTIONS.  We want you and your kid(s) to feel super comfortable asking any questions you may have!
WHAT TO EXPECT IN CLASS
  • WHEN THEIR CLASS STARTS. the Instructor will call for everyone to line up. They line up in a single line facing the training floor mirrors in belt order. They will bow towards their parents and then to their instructor as a show of respect and shared purpose.  It’s a small carryover from an old tradition, but we find it important to build our community with mutual and shared respect.
  • WARM UP. Each class starts with a warm up.  The warm up is designed to get their body ready for active training.  It includes progressive exercise (starting slow then ramping up) and then a little stretching before the first lesson of the class. It may also include a game to keep it fun!
  • LEARNING AND TRAINING.  In a typical class, they’ll learn some strikes, combinations, or a self-defense technique. We will also put it into a drill to add more dynamic training and help them learn how to react under stress. We strive to teach kids practical self-defense skills while simultaneously helping them develop mental and physical discipline.
  • FINISH. At the end of class, we have mat chat. Mat chat is designed to teach valuable life skills with new themes each month. For example we may talk about respect, honesty, self-discipline, etc. We want our kids to work their brains as much as their physical skills. Once mat chat is done, they will bow again to the parents and instructor.
  • AFTER CLASS. The kids will line up to get tokens! Each class they earn a base of 3 tokens. We use this as a fun incentive for the kids to be on their best behavior. If a kid is being a stellar student, they can earn extra tokens, or if they are having some trouble we can take tokens away. We have a prize bin with different level prizes they can buy with the tokens they earn.
  • JOIN THE COMMUNITY. After their first class, our staff will check in with you and your kid(s) to hear about their favorite parts!  This will be your opportunity to jump in and join the most amazing community of diverse yet goal-sharing like-minded people anywhere by becoming a member of Colorado Krav Maga by choosing one of our current membership programs available at the time. Not all programs are always available and they fill out quickly, so make sure you can hang for a few minutes afterwards to get all your questions answered and lock in your membership.

AFTER ACTION
  • REVIEW WITH YOUR KID(S) WHAT THEY LEARNED.  While we don’t necessarily recommend you go over the techniques they learned, talking to them about what they learned in mat chat or reiterating with them any principles they learned in class can be helpful for retention.
  • WE’LL BE FOLLOWING UP WITH YOU.  We’ll check in with you in the next day or two to make sure you’re kids are still super excited and ready to come back in for their next class and to answer anymore questions you might have.
  • GET FULLY ON-BOARD. Once you become a member, an entire world of education opens up for you. We’ll ask you to be in our private group on Facebook if you’re not already. We’ll make sure you have our app downloaded and know how to use it. We’ll make sure you’re in the know using all of our methods of contact so you’re always up to date on happenings, announcement, member only training and seminars, get togethers, socials, outside training, outside business specials, and more!
  • GEAR UP. We will make sure your kid has all the gear they need. If you have any questions or need anything else for them, don’t hesitate to reach out!
  • GET TO YOUR NEXT CLASS. Consistency and routine is key! Make sure your kids know what day is Krav day and get them excited for it. Most of our families tell us their kids wake up and ask, “is it a Krav day?” and they look forward to it!
  • KEEP THE COMMUNICATION LINES OPEN AND ACTIVE.  Stay in close touch with us.  We want to know how you’re kid(s) progressing, how their feeling, if they’ll be missing classes for a bit because of a vacation or if they’re sick.  And we want to know what’s awesome in your life so hit us up on social media, in the group, and just via phone or email.  This really is a tight knit, open, accepting, welcoming, and cool A$$ community.  If you want to reach out to the bosses directly, just email jamesandshannon@coloradokravmaga.com they’d be excited to hear your story!
